A Brief History
The inaugural meeting of the Lake Cathie Men's Bowling Club took place on 10th December 1970 and of the Lake Cathie Women's Bowling Club on 22nd January 1971. The first Lake Cathie Bowling & Recreation Club clubhouse was completed in April 1973 and the first bowling green in December 1973. Both were officially opened on 10th February 1974.
The Club's Big Bowl, said to be the largest in the world, was unveiled in November 1975.
Rules and regulations
Clothing must be of clean and tidy appearance
No hats are permitted to be worn in the Club, unless as part of official bowls attire
No bare feet - thongs and sandals are acceptable
Men are not permitted to wear singlets or muscle tops
Person under the age of 18 will not be admitted to the club unless they are accompanied by a responsible person and they must remain in that person's company at all times whilst on club premises. While chidren are welcome it is an offence for them to approach or obtain services from the bar or enter the TAB or poker machine areas.
Bona Fide visitors residing outside a 5kms radius of the Club are required to sign the visitor's register before entering the Club and may be required to produce proof of residence.
Guests of members residing within the 5kms radius must be signed in as guest members, providing they remain in the company of the member and vacate the premises with the member. They may be required to produce proof of identity and residential address.
