Lake Cathie
The village of Lake Cathie is on the NSW
Mid North Coast 20km north of Laurieton and 12 kms south of
Port Macquarie. Its surf beach is patrolled during the summer
holidays and the lake is a great place for safe family swimming
and fishing. Boat access is from a ramp beside the bridge.
Beach fishing is also a popular leisure activity. Extensive shore reserves around the lake
have electric BBQs, shelters, toilets, picnic tables and play
areas for children. Bushwalkers have a choice of a number of
reserves that extend inland and along the coast.
Lake Cathie is a popular beach holiday destination
and there is a wide range of fully self-contained flats and
cottages available for rent as well as B&Bs and one motel which nestles in 10 acres of parkland
about 2 minutes from the beach. Shops include a large Woolworth supermarket
and a number of smaller shops as well as a post office and
petrol station.
The Lake Cathie Bowling Club welcomes travelling
bowlers and can help arrange suitable accommodation, a game
or two of bowls and a hearty meal. If you are looking to stay a few days at Lake Cathie we highly recommend these lodgings:
